Every week in Ontario, hundreds of sane, sound, healthy horses are slaughtered. Irresponsible breeding, the decline of the racing industry, and hay shortages have put tens of thousands of horses at risk of slaughter and neglect in our province and across Canada. 

Canter ON Equines mission is:
(a) to obtain horses at direct risk of abuse, neglect and slaughter, rehabilitate them and find them safe, life-long homes; 
(b) to promote the development of equine therapy programs that serve challenged persons, persons with PTSD, at-risk Youth and others;
(c) to educate the membership and public about equines and;
(d) to facilitate the re-homing of equines that would otherwise sell to meat dealers or high-risk auctions.

Canter ON Equines is dedicated to finding homes for horses who would otherwise be sold to horse dealers or high-risk auctions. We will list and promote your at-risk horse free-of-charge to help him/her find a home. We want to help ensure the safety of your horse from abuse, neglect and slaughter. Canter ON Equines is a registered not-for-profit corporation that is governed by a Constitution and By-Laws to ensure a safe, successful and transparent organization. Our vision for the future is to provide the foundation for an Ontario community of Canter ON Rescues that focus on different breeds and horse demographics. 
Canter ON Equines relies on membership fees, donations, adoptions and attendance at fundraising events to take in rescues. We also gratefully accept any donations of hay, tack, equipment and farm supplies, as well as volunteers to help with future operations and fundraising events. 

2013 Voting Member fee is $100.
2013 Non-voting Member fee is $50.
